Squirting 101

August 03 2022

It’s pee, it’s cum.. it’s squirt!

Considering the comparatively small amount of research done on this wonderful ability vulvas have, it makes sense that we all have so many questions. Let’s try to clear some:

Is the liquid ejected pee?

Not really, it is a mix of urea, creatinine, uric acid, and prostatic-specific antigen whereas pee is mainly water and then urea, creatinine, uric acid, chloride, sodium, potassium, ammonium and other ions and molecules. Prostatic-specific antigen is an enzyme produced mainly in the Skene glands, located close to the urethra.

Can everyone with a vulva squirt?

Anatomically yes, but it is estimated that only between 10% and 50% of people with vulvas actually do so.

What’s a normal amount of squirt?

There’s not an actual “normal” amount, some people squirt only a teaspoon of fluid while others ejaculate several ounces.

I can squirt but only when by myself as opposed to with a partner, is that normal?

Yes! When by yourself you are completely relaxed which is a key factor for most people. Also when doing the stimulation yourself, it is much easier to follow your body’s cues as opposed to when being stimulated by a partner.

Is it an orgasm?

Nope, it could happen at the same time, but it is not an orgasm. Some people experience it before or after orgasming and for many people the feeling is very different than the one experienced when having an O.

Here are some pointers if you haven’t done it yet and would like to explore:
  • Prepare your surroundings: whether it’s gonna be a couple drops or a full on tsunami of love, your future me (the one that’s gonna do the clean-up) will appreciate you setting up some towels on the bed before getting started. The bathtub is also a great option when it comes to clean-up. Make sure your toys and lube are handy as well.
  • Relax and take your time: take all the time you need to get comfortable and unwind from the day. Trust us, it can get quite difficult to get to squirt after a stressful day if you don’t take the time to relax and get in the right mood.
  • Explore your body: not everyone squirts from the same stimulation. Most common spots that can get you to do so are your G-spot and the area around your urethra. You can try rubbing the area around your urethra with your fingers or a toy while laying on your back

If the G-spot might be more your thing you can try stimulating it using a toy or your fingers a couple inches into your vagina on the top wall. You can also use one hand to press down on your lower abdomen to make it easier to reach.

    • Continue exploring and listen to your body: you might feel like you really need to pee right before it happens, it’s normal! Relax, clear your mind and let it out.
    • No squirt? no problem!: if you’ve been trying for a while and still hasn’t happened don’t worry, you might have a lot on your mind or simply not be in the right mood. You can finish what you started iykyk, and try again some other time. This assignment has no deadline ;)
